Martin Odegaard took the number 11 shirt at Arsenal after signing for the club but with many thinking he might get Mesut Ozil’s recently-vacated 10, why didn’t he take that number?

Martin Odegaard seems very happy to be at Arsenal. In fact, his praise about the club has been such that some reports in Spain claim that one or two Real Madrid players feel a bit bad about it all.

 

The midfielder wants to play now and seems like he has reached his limit with the Spaniards, heading out on what is his fourth loan. He got his first minutes against Manchester United, coming off the bench in the second half to replace Emile Smith Rowe.

 

Arsenal will consider making the move permanent in the summer, depending on how the loan goes, and it seems as if the player would be open to that.

 

According to DefensaCentral, the Real Madrid site, Odegaard took the 11 shirt at Arsenal because he wanted a number he could keep should he sign for the club in the summer.

 

The 10, it seems, will be going to Emile Smith Rowe in the summer and Odegaard wanted a number he could use again if he returns.

Just In: New pictures of Arsenal’s 2021/22 away kit leaked

The first pictures of Arsenal’s first team squad sporting next season’s away kit have been leaked.

After this season’s, bloodshot eyes shirt, the club are returning to a more traditional yellow and blue combination for 2021/22.

The shade of yellow – ‘pearl citrine’ in adidas parlance – may look a little like custard but the use of the stripped-back cannon badge is a nice touch.

We expect to see similar shots of the home and third kits in due course. The latter is predicted to be blue with a lightning motif inspired by the kits of the mid-nineties.
