It will go ‘bang’: Mikel Arteta makes big prediction for Arsenal’s future

Published

Mikel Arteta is confident he is at the start of a brilliant project with Arsenal and expects things to go ‘bang’ once the pandemic is over.

It’s been a tough season for the Gunners, who are currently 10th in the Premier League, and there has been little sign of major progress.

However, Arteta believes the coronavirus pandemic is playing a big part in creating instability for the club and when normality returns, fans will start to see just how good his side are.

‘We have created a really strong group, a really strong bond with our players, our fans and our staff, and that is going to pay some big [dividends] in the future when everything comes back to normality and we are able to work with some stability,’ he said.

‘I think this project is going to go ‘bang’. Sometimes it is difficult to see the moment now but I’m sure where we are going.’

Arteta admitted the club’s financial health is also of great importance to him amid fears that a failure to qualify for European competition next season would adversely impact the club.

‘Our responsibility, and everything we are planning for the future, is for this club to go back to being sustainable on its own, and being as strong as possible in every department.

The financial department is crucial as well.’ It’s a big period for the Gunners, who are 12 points off the Champions League spots in the Premier League and only have the Europa League left as a route to silverware and Arteta set his players a fresh challenge for upcoming fixtures against Olympiacos, Spurs, West Ham and Liverpool.

‘What we need to do is put four or five wins in a row’ added the former Manchester City assistant manager. ‘If we are able to do that then things are going to look very different in two or three weeks’ time. If we don’t, obviously we don’t have a chance.’

Just In: New pictures of Arsenal’s 2021/22 away kit leaked

The first pictures of Arsenal’s first team squad sporting next season’s away kit have been leaked.

After this season’s, bloodshot eyes shirt, the club are returning to a more traditional yellow and blue combination for 2021/22.

The shade of yellow – ‘pearl citrine’ in adidas parlance – may look a little like custard but the use of the stripped-back cannon badge is a nice touch.

We expect to see similar shots of the home and third kits in due course. The latter is predicted to be blue with a lightning motif inspired by the kits of the mid-nineties.
