How much Arsenal spent on agent fees last year revealed as Premier League total hits £272m

A breakdown of the figures paid to intermediaries has been released by the FA

Arsenal spent £16.46million on agent fees in the space of 12 months up to February 1, according to new figures released by the Football Association, while the total spent by Premier League clubs hit £272million at a time when questions continue to be raised about the game’s financial strength post-pandemic.

The bulk of the Gunners’ spend will have come from the summer deals for Thomas Partey and Willian in addition to the loan for Martin Odegaard in the winter.

Arsenal were just behind their north London rivals Tottenham, who paid £16.52million, while Chelsea spent a league high £35.2million following a summer spree that saw seven new players arrive at Stamford Bridge for more than £220million.on.

Only one other Premier League team – Manchester City – spent more than £30million on intermediary fees in the same timespan, which includes last summer’s transfer window and this January market, with Manchester United the third biggest spenders on £29million.

West Ham United paid £9.7million, with Fulham on £9.4million and Crystal Palace the third lowest at £6.7million.

The total Premier League figure rose by £9million compared to a year previous.

More than £40million was spent among Championship clubs with the total for every league club coming in at a whopping £317million.

Just In: New pictures of Arsenal’s 2021/22 away kit leaked

The first pictures of Arsenal’s first team squad sporting next season’s away kit have been leaked.

After this season’s, bloodshot eyes shirt, the club are returning to a more traditional yellow and blue combination for 2021/22.

The shade of yellow – ‘pearl citrine’ in adidas parlance – may look a little like custard but the use of the stripped-back cannon badge is a nice touch.

We expect to see similar shots of the home and third kits in due course. The latter is predicted to be blue with a lightning motif inspired by the kits of the mid-nineties.
