Arteta reveals why he does not play Martinelli often

Arsenal were in top action on Sunday when they played against Newcastle United in the premier league.

The game ended in a 2-0 win in favour of the Gunners with Gabriel Martinelli being named the man of the match.

In a post-match statement, Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta revealed why he doesn’t play Martinelli often.

Arteta in his statement stressed that Martinelli and Kieran Tierney need to work on their connection down the left flank for him to perform.

He noted that Martinelli’s performance during the game vs. Newcastle United was aided by Granit Xhaka’s presence at left-back.

Martinelli, who created the assist for the second goal recently came back into the fold, having gone seven straight league fixtures without making an appearance.

His return to the team has coincided with the absence of left-back Tierney, who has been sidelined for each of those games.

Arteta said, “I think having Granit behind him helps him in a way because he’s more in the line, in the last line, on the left when he is more comfortable.

“With Kieran, it’s a little bit different. Those relationships we have to feel.”

Arsenal will now focus on their next game vs. Villarreal with the hope of bouncing back in the UEL.

The first pictures of Arsenal’s first team squad sporting next season’s away kit have been leaked.

After this season’s, bloodshot eyes shirt, the club are returning to a more traditional yellow and blue combination for 2021/22.

The shade of yellow – ‘pearl citrine’ in adidas parlance – may look a little like custard but the use of the stripped-back cannon badge is a nice touch.

We expect to see similar shots of the home and third kits in due course. The latter is predicted to be blue with a lightning motif inspired by the kits of the mid-nineties.
