Arsenal have confirmed that David Luiz has undergone minor surgery and will return ‘in the upcoming weeks’.
The Brazilian defender missed Arsenal’s 3-0 defeat against Liverpool on Saturday with a knee injury.
And the Gunners have announced that the 33-year-old required a ‘small procedure’ on Sunday morning to fix the problem.
A statement from Arsenal read: ‘The procedure has been a success and David is now back at home rehabilitating.
‘David is expected to be back to full fitness and available for selection in the upcoming weeks.’
Arsenal, meanwhile, are also monitoring Kieran Tierney’s situation after the Scotland international was forced off with a knee injury before half time in the defeat to Liverpool.
‘He felt something in his knee and he was in pain so it looks like he will be injured, but we don’t know for how long,’ Mikel Arteta said after the game.
